Spring Break for the Ancient
Today is the first day of spring break. THANK GOD! I’m leaving for D.C. Monday morning. I can’t wait! I started planning the trip out last night.
So far I’ve packed:
two pairs of pajamas
fiber pills
Which works perfectly since the only things on my agenda thus far are:
sleep
nap
sleep
I know I should visit at least a couple war memorials, but that’s just so depressing. I don’t want to be depressed on spring break. I want to be sleeping. Or drunk. But not too drunk, I don’t want to be the old lady who dances atop bar tables. Unless I’m being paid for it.
I definitely want to check out Eastern Market and hopefully find some thrift stores to scour. Are any of you from the D.C. area and can offer advice on where to go? Thrift stores and otherwise? Mama needs some new/old Pyrex bowls. Rose is very lonely.

If you don’t want to be depressed, SKIP the Holocaust Museum. it’s amazing but will render you useless for hours afterwards.
Go to Georgetown! It’s a slice of heaven!
I hope you have a great trip, Grandma!
Two pair of Pj’s??? What kind of spring break is that??? Have fun… Candy.
The place to go is National Museum of American History. Pop culture overload! It’s like the internet, but in real life.
If you haven’t experienced a night in Adams Morgan, your life is incomplete. During my trip last June, I found this article and knew we had to go:

Let’s just say I was not disappointed!
If you do go to Adams Morgan, make sure to stop off at the Toledo Lounge. Asylum’s fun, too.
I personally was awed by the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials. The Library of Congress was pretty cool too. I don’t know why you’d go to DC and then skip all that stuff.
SRA: Not wanting to see the Holocaust Museum doesn’t mean I’m going to skip every single historical spot.
Sarah: I am still cyber-stalking you, all the way from KY. My DC advice – Go to U Street and stop at Cake Love. Then walk down the street and visit Pulp. You will pass 6-7 thrift stores on the way. It is also a historically interesting walk (Civil Rights movement), if you are feeling up to it.
