List Lover
I have finally discovered the key to productive weekends! The secret is in the list.
I’ve always been a list person. At any given moment you can find at least half a dozen lists in the bottom of my purse (alongside an expired, flavored condom.. which I’m still not entirely sure how it got there).
At the beginning of every weekend I write out my giant ‘to do’ list. Typically I look at the list and find it so intimidating that I choose to take a nap instead. This weekend, however, I decided to add some items to the list that I knew I’d get done. Every once in a while I need to feel that sense of accomplishment when I cross something off the list.

I think everyone would benefit from achievable lists, which is why I’m never writing “clean room” again. I have got to stop setting myself up for failure.

Well done! It looks like you crossed off more items than not, so you totally deserve a chocolate-anything.
Interesting.. you didn’t cross off “wear panties”..
And here I thought I was the only one guilty of that.
Oh but Sarah, you are surely cheating with that list! Get dressed? Wash hair? Shower? Knowing you, these may be things you need to put on a list and cross off, but many of us do such chores every day!!! 😉
I think putting some of the “easier” things on your list is a MUST! It keeps you encouraged. It just feels good to cross things off of a list. I normally have “Make coffee, eat, take nap” on there for just that reason!
Wine store didn’t get crossed off!?! That one thing alone worries me, is it time for an intervention?
Hey, you left “Make cookies for my new bff” off your list. Is that because you decided to ditch that idea, or because I’m so important that you did it before you made the list?
You forgot to add pee and poo to the list. Im just sayin I would have had them on the list.
So lemme get this straight..No wine store or wearing panties, yet you picked up dog shit, did the dishes and vacuum’d.
Girl, get your priorities straight.
ps. I’m surprised you didn’t have
Kill RLO on the list.
I’m trying to figure out what you exactly eat at home. Cheese and crackers makes sense. and you are buying soy milk and cereal… ok that’s for your lactose free breakfast. Two kinds of water? Cooking Spray X 2? you don’t wear hair pins…. And what does the pesto go with?
Why is wine store at the bottom of the list?
I’m a list maker too! Now I’ll take your advise and put
“Go to bathroom”
on my list, not just because I like crossing things off, but just to remind me I need to.
(Love the new heading)
Thought you might like to attend the first ever Salt Lake City Halloween parade… http://nakedjen.blogs.com/
I love lists. I’m a compulsive list maker. I add things to list even after I’ve done them just so I can cross them off.
I love lists. It’s the “Doing them” thing that is the bitch.
I think it’s funny you didn’t cross off ‘wear panties’ and that it was even on the list.
AHEM! What’s up with your masthead??? 😉
I have a friend who big on list making. But then she never does anything with them except like you, let’s the get lost in the bottom of her purse.
FWIW, I liked the old masthead better.
“lets THEM get lost in her purse”…jeez!
Hahahaha, “Wear panties”
Not crossed off. Naturally.
a list ey… thats a good idea =o) Might have to try it sometime, that way i may actually get something done =o)
Ditto Laura… I also put things on the list that are already done, just to have the gratification of crossing it off and making it look like I’ve gotten somewhere. I will also rewrite my list when it gets too messy and STILL add the things that are already done. HA!
I would have left the dog shit, and worn the panties. Only because my panties are so cute and my dog is 20x bigger than Daisy, thus, so is the poop.
Wine store should have been done before dishes! Are you feeling ok?
Now THAT masthead is kickASS! Love it!
Sad that you didn’t make it to the wine store. I would move that WAY up the list before next weekend.
Lists are my absolute favorite. I sometimes put things on there that I have already done just to cross them off. There is something about crossing off list items that is so gratifying!
